Country overview

Costa Rica is in Central America, bordering both the Caribbean Sea and the North Pacific Ocean, between Nicaragua and Panama. The country consists of coastal plains separated by rugged mountains including over 100 volcanic cones.



Climate overview

Tropical and subtropical; dry season (December to April); rainy season (May to November); cooler in highlands. Tropical with plentiful rainfall and high temperatures throughout the year; heavier rainfall between May-November and felt more on the Caribbean coast than the Pacific.
