M 6.6 Earthquake - February 2001, El Salvador
On 13 February 2001 at 08:22 am local time, a Richter magnitude 6.6 earthquake with an epicentre located 30 km SE of the capital, San Salvador, at a depth of 10 km resulted in many landslides throughout El Salvador1,2,3.
An aftershock (M=5.3) on 17 February 2001 at 14:24 local time with an epicentre located south of San Salvador caused further landslides and damaged more homes2.
