Landslide - January 2001, El Salvador

A landslide occurred at Las Colinas in the Santa Tecla district of greater San Salvador as a result of the Richter magnitude 7.6 earthquake on 13 January 20011.
Approximately 200,000 m3 of soil was displaced in a shallow slide from the El Balsamo Mountain that buried many buildings and took 585 lives2,3.
