Floods
Two days of heavy rain that commenced on 11 July 2006 triggered floods and landslides across 1300 km2 of Chile1.
The region of Bio Bio (central Chile) was severely affected by the floods and was declared a disaster zone2,1. 25,343 people were forced out of their homes due to the threat of rivers bursting their banks and 3679 people were accommodated in temporary shelters2.
