Drought - 2001, El Salvador
The 2001 drought resulted in crop losses as high as 90 percent in the east of the country. Total agricultural losses amounted to 45,000 hectares1,3.
Some 400,000 people were affected by the drought, many of who were already suffering from the impact of the January and February earthquakes2.
