Destructive tsunamis have been generated in the past from large earthquakes along the subduction zone off the Makran coast of Pakistan, including the 1945 Oman Sea and the 957 Caspian Sea events1,2. Although the historic record is incomplete, it is believed that such tsunamis were destructive along the coasts of Pakistan, Iran, India and Oman1.
